Meet

Lynda

Hello! I’m Lynda

White Rock Artist

My interest in Arts and Crafts started when I was a very young.  I loved painting and drawing and later on began to sew, crochet, and do macramé and tatting.  The next stage of my life involved refurbishing and rebuilding antique lamps and designing lampshades. This led to learning wood turning so that I could build my own lamps, into which I would sometimes incorporate marble, metal or reclaimed vintage lamp components. Finally, I came back, full circle, to working with threads, yarns, beads, and semi-precious stones.  All this has been an interesting journey.

I love playing with colours and contrasting textures and am much inspired by Nature. My preference is to combine earthy, rustic elements with more delicate and fragile ones.

Currently I have embarked on making totes and bags using Recycled and Repurposed textiles and notions.  Textile waste, which comes from the manufacture of clothes and their eventual disposal into landfills, is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. It feels good to be able to metamorphose some of it into useful and attractive accessories.

All Glass Pumpkin items are handcrafted in White Rock, B.C., Canada, and you can view some of them by visiting the White Rock Museum and Archives Gift Shop at 14970 Marine Drive, White Rock, B.C.

Also view Lynda’s creations at Le Conseil culturel et artistique francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CCAFCB)
